Week Seven Stats: N/A

2017 Stats: .299 (BA)/.337 (OBP)/.455 (SLG), 2 HR, 11 RBI, 11 SB, 26 R, 9 BB, 29 K

Pollock is still on the 10-day DL with a groin injury. Arizona manager Tony Lovullo said last week that they expect Pollock to miss more than 10 days.

Jeff Samardzija - SP, San Francisco Giants

Week Seven Stats: 1 GS, 8.0 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K, W-L: 0-0

2017 Stats: 1-5, 4.57 ERA, 61.0 IP, 59 H, 31 ER, 10 BB, 71 K, .257 BAA

Samardzija continues to dazzle, but still isn’t getting the rewards for it. This past week he tossed eight scoreless innings against the St. Louis Cardinals, but was handed a no decision as his Giants gave him no run support. Samardzija ranks eighth in baseball in lowest run support, as he’s getting around three runs per game. Last Friday’s start was his fourth consecutive start where he didn’t allow a walk. In his last four starts he has a 36/0 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Samardzija will next take the mound on Thursday when he faces off with his former team — the Chicago Cubs.

David Phelps - RP, Miami Marlins

MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates at Miami Marlins Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Week Seven Stats: 3 G, 3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, W-L: 0-0

2017 Stats: 2-2, 3.68 ERA, 22.0 IP, 19 H, 9 ER, 8 BB, 24 K, .253 BAA

Phelps posted his third straight clean week and finally has his ERA below three. He also hasn’t allowed a run since April 21st. As for Phelps’ team, they have struggled. The Marlins currently hold the worst record in the league at 15-28.

Trey Mancini - 3B/1B/OF, Baltimore Orioles

MLB: Washington Nationals at Baltimore Orioles Patrick McDermott-USA TODAY Sports

Week Six Stats: .350 (7/20), 0 R, 0 HR, 2 RBI, 1 2b, 1 BB, 5 K

2017 Stats: .300/.333/.560, 7 HR, 22 RBI, 9 R, 5 2b, 5 BB, 33 K

The power numbers weren’t there last week for Mancini, but he was able to up his average to .300 by going 7/20 on the week. Mancini is having a great rookie season, as he’s helped the O’s to a 25-17 record, just a half game back of the New York Yankees for first place in the AL East. Mancini and the Orioles will battle the Minnesota Twins and Houston Astros this week.

John Axford - RP, Oakland Athletics

Week Seven Stats: 1 G, 1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

2017 Stats: 0-0, 9.00 ERA, 1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, .250 BAA

Axford made his season debut on Sunday in Oakland’s 12-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox. He worked only one inning and surrendered a run on an RBI groundout. Axford’s stuff still seems to be there as his fastball was averaging 95 MPH.

Craig Counsell - Mgr., Milwaukee Brewers

MLB: Milwaukee Brewers at San Diego Padres Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Week Seven Stats: 4-2

2017 Stats: 25-19

Counsell’s Brewers are one of the hottest teams in baseball, as they have won seven of their last 10 ball games. The Brewers now stand a game and a half in front of the St. Louis Cardinals for first place in the NL Central. This week the Brewers will take on the Toronto Blue Jays and Arizona Diamondbacks.
