Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Things Are Heating Up For 4-Star Cornerback, Houston Griffith

Notre Dame still plays a defense with cornerbacks- maybe recruits will take notice.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are in need of cornerbacks in the 2018 class. The Irish would like to take three corners in this class after completely whiffing in the 2017 class. Of course, the Irish had one in the fold in this class, but Kalon Gervin decided that South Bend wasn’t for him.

Enter Houston Griffith.

Just a few months ago, Griffith was a hot name for Notre Dame recruiting. So hot, in fact, many wondered when Griffith would commit to Notre Dame and not if he would commit. That talk slowed down, and we started to settle into the spring recruiting lull- but something is happening right now.

Recruiting gurus over at 247 Sports are starting to set their crystal ball pick for Griffith in Notre Dame’s favor. Gus Ramos, an Illinois insider that is close to the situation, put his pick in for Griffith a few weeks ago, and now others are starting to follow suit.

It’s another battle with the Ohio State Buckeyes, and this one looks like it is setting up to be a win for the Irish. I don’t really care how or why this is shaping up to be that way (some suggest that OSU may not have room), all I know is that this is a MUST get for Notre Dame.

Griffith and possibly Donald Johnson from Indianapolis with current Irish safety commit, Derrik Allen? Uhh, yes please.

Notre Dame has a nice young secondary right now, but they absolutely need to continue to fill up in this class- and right now, it looks pretty good.
