The Notre Dame Fighting Irish got another commitment for its 2018 recruiting class with the addition of John Dirksen. Dirksen committed to Notre Dame on Saturday while on an unofficial visit with his parents.

The 6’5” 305 pounder from Marion Local in THE GREAT STATE OF OHIO was one of a small handful of offensive line targets that the Irish were targeting. This is important, considering that he becomes just the 2nd offensive line commit in this class. This is a guy that Notre Dame, and offensive line coach Harry Hiestand wanted badly.

Nick DuBose will have a film breakdown soon, but you can check his Hudl film out HERE.

Dirksen is the 12th commitment for Notre Dame’s 2018 recruiting class. The 2018 Scholarship chart is fully in the red and is sitting at 90 scholarships right now. Fifteen of those scholarships are now in the hands of an offensive lineman- and the Irish are still going after 2 more commitments.

Recruiting a lot of times is full of “runs.” One commitment leads to another and leads to another. We’ll have to see how that works as we are also in prime “spring commitment” time, but as spots continue to fill up, I can see a scenario where guys that are big leans now will be commitments by the end of April.
