The 2018 class keeps loading up with talent. This is fun.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are off to as fast of a start recruiting football players as we may have ever seen in South Bend. The Irish continue to strengthen their position as the #2 ranked recruiting class with the commitment of 4-star wide receiver, Braden Lenzy.

Lenzy is the 11th Irish commitment for the 2018 class and chose Notre Dame over programs such as the Oregon Ducks, Stanford Cardinal, USC Trojans, UCLA Bruins, and Michigan State Spartans- as well as many others.

Many observers have compared the Portland, Oregon prospect to former Irish star, Will Fuller. While I tend to shy away from such comparisons, it is exciting to see a prospect with speed like his wearing number “25.”

Some teams really liked Lenzy on the defensive side of the ball. That seems to be the case with the Trojans, at least. While Lenzy could very well play cornerback at the next level, Notre Dame wants him on the offensive side and for good reason. When the kid has the ball in his hands, he is absolutely electric- and that includes his time as a returner.

Lenzy will possibly walk into a crowded house at wide receiver for the Irish with 12 other players at the position. While this could be daunting for some, the athleticism Lenzy has displayed is proof enough that he will be able to compete for a place at the table right away- even if that place is returning kicks and/or punts.

Notre Dame is on a hot streak, and the numbers suggest that they will have to be very selective moving forward. The 2018 Scholarship chart shown HERE, has the Irish over the 85 limit for 2018. There is still a lot of time between now and August 2018, but it will be what helps shape the rest of the class.
