The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have made recruiting a much bigger priority over the last few months and it is paying off in stars. That effort got the 10th commit for the 2018 recruiting class for the Irish when 4-star WR, Micah Jones chose the Irish at a ceremony at his high school.

Jones is the #1 player in the state of Illinois according to Tom Lemming, and 247 Sports has him as a 4 star player in its composite rankings. That’s nice and all, but it isn’t the number of stars that has me excited about Jones, it’s the number of inches associated with his height. Jones is 6’5” and about 200 pounds. His wingspan looks even longer than that. The kid is a nice target with good speed.
Jones is one of the best players in the midwest and committed to the Irish over programs like the Iowa Hawkeyes, Illinois Fighting Illini, Michigan State Spartans, and Northwestern Wildcats.
If you look at the 2018 scholarship chart for the Irish, they are now 4 scholarships over the 85 man limit. This chart offers NO predictions of roster attrition- yet. No doubt spring football and the long wait through the summer will add a few open spots for this class.

Another thing that we tend to not think about is that we will also have NEXT years spring and summer as well. Transfers and other types of attrition happen, so the goal that Brian Kelly has of 19-20 in this class is still doable.
For now, the Irish are on a roll and we haven’t even hit March. Notre Dame has the #2 ranked recruiting class for 2018 right now according to 247 Sports, with the ability to be picky as the process wears on towards signing day- 11 months away.
