The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are always trying to improve the athleticism of its defense, and with the signing of three star linebacker Ovie Oghoufo, they are getting just that.
✍️ @OvieOghoufo is finally Irish!

The rangy LB has instincts you can't teach. We can't wait to have him join us in January.

Despite the three star ranking, Oghoufo has impressed in the camp circuit and has shown a tremendous amount of that athleticism from the linebacker position. He has been described as being one of the best "cover backers" in the country with his ability to get out into coverage. He uses his speed and length well, but he has to improve on his strength and contact at the point of attack.
While Ovie steps into a good situation as far as possible playing time goes in the future, we hope the focus is strength training and a redshirt in 2018. He could see special teams duty as a true freshman as his frame and athleticism could be found useful.
Ovie chose the Irish over in-state programs such as the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans. He has been a leader in this recruiting class, and has been a vocal recruiter for the Irish as well.
