The Notre Dame Fighting Irish picked up a big part of their recruiting puzzle late Sunday night when 3 star cornerback Tariq Bracy committed to the Golden Domers. Cornerback was a huge need for the 2018 class, but Notre Dame has had some issues with filling out the position thus far.
Bracy, a 6’0” 170 athlete, had liked the Irish for a very long time, and the Notre Dame staff really wanted him as well. Thing were looking a little bleak for a path for Bracy to come to Notre Dame. Bracy thought that he wanted to play with his brother and San Diego State Aztecs, but he eventually decided that Notre Dame was too good of an offer to turn down. (So the story goes).
Bracy chose the Irish over a bunch of west coast schools including the Utah Utes, Boise State Broncos, and Washington State Cougars.

Bracy is the 18th commitment for the 2018 class, and the second cornerback commit. I was just putting together a “numbers crunch” article, and this changes things up a bit.
Below you will find an updated scholarship chart. I started taking some of the names off that we either know for sure, or are fairly sure won’t be in South Bend next year. I haven’t designated the 5th year eligibility to the sophomores for next year just yet. As you can see however... Notre Dame is currently one scholarship over the 85 mark, and more than a handful of spots that they still want to fill.
How is this going to work itself out? Well, I’ll have more on that later.
