College Football Name of the Year: The Elite Eight

Can Equanimeous St. Brown continue to advance as one of the best names in college football?

As we get into the home stretch of the college football season, it’s also time to dive into the home stretch of the College Football Name of the Year tournament!

A few weeks back, we saw the Sweet 16 voting advance some obvious favorites (Lion King, Squally Canada) and some Cinderellas that have continued to pull off upsets (Handsome Tanielu, Jet Toner).

Now, the field has been whittled down to just 8 spectacular college football player names. Only YOU can decide who moves on to the Final Four.

So be sure to get your votes in ASAP, and share this with literally everyone you have ever come into contact with, so we can truly choose the best of the best in NCAA football nomenclature.

Here’s an updated bracket, if you want to look at how far we’ve come in this months-long endeavor.

Voting for the Elite Eight will end on Saturday at noon, so be sure to cast your votes before then!

The #1 overall seed Lion King meets a dangerous 6 seed who’s seeing red. Will the ruler of the jungle survive and advance, or will a metaphorical wildebeest stampede unleashed by supporters of Bull Barge finally end his run on top? The choice is yours.

BYU’s Chaz Ah You comes into the Elite Eight with one of the best names that also sounds like someone sneezing, but will now have to face fan-favorite Thunder Keck, who sounds like a special move in Super Smash Bros. Who will be Your Highness in the Yourhighness region? Let’s find out.

The guy whose name means a version of the United States’ neighbor to the north riddled with snowstorms is easily one of the best names in this tournament. But is Equanimeous St. Brown better? And even more relevant: will homer Notre Dame fans vote for him over Squally Canada even if he isn’t? Should be fun to see.

According to my very arbitrary original seedings, these two guys have no business meeting in the Elite Eight. Nevertheless, the guy named after generic computer printer buzz words is going up against the best-looking guy in the tournament. WHO WILL PREVAIL: business smarts, or stunning good looks??? Talk about an exciting matchup!
