Series Recap: Notre Dame vs. Wake Forest

It’s been a bit one-sided so far

TWO DAYS TILL MORE TRUCKING

On Saturday afternoon, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will play the Wake Forest Deamon Deacons. After a dominating win over the Louisville Cardinals, Wake Forest is coming in hot to Notre Dame Stadium. However, the Irish are one of the hottest teams in the nation right now. We will look to continue the command of opponents that we have had so far in all 7 wins.

The series against Wake Forest has been recent, but we’ll see how we have managed Wake Forest in the past.

ND vs. WF: The Series

ND and Wake Forest have played each other 3 times ever, and all of them have come since 2011. Notre Dame holds the 3-0 lead in the series. Since all games have been in this decade, Brian Kelly has coached all of them. Also, we our two teams are connected because Mike Elko coached against us in the 2015 contest. Elko’s success at Wake Forest led him to show his prowess here at Notre Dame.

Highlights

2011: It was kind of of whacky game. Back and forth until Touchdown Tommy threw two pass TDs (one was the infamous lofty fade to the endzone) to set up a 24-17 leade. Wake Forest blew three chances inside our 30 in the last 20 minutes of the game to set us up to keep that 24-17 lead and win

2012: Dominance. This game put us at 11-0. It was Manti’s senior day. However, our win started the chain of events that led to us gaining the number 1 spot in the nation that night after the Kansas State Wildcats and the Oregon Ducks both lost. What a day that was.

Like Saturday, we were Number 3 then, too.

2015: Another fun game. The score wasn’t pretty, but we had a commanding game. We also see Josh Adams give us the longest run in Notre Dame Stadium history that day. Before all the fame and #33Trucking happened, we were seeing a star come out of his shell.

#33Trucking before that was a thing

Here’s to hoping the truck convey keeps on rolling like it has been against Wake Forest in the recent past. Go Irish. Beat Demon Deacons.
