College Football Playoff Rankings: Notre Dame Drops to Number 8 After 3rd Week of Rankings

Get shellacked, but only drop 5 spots. Ok, sure.

Very Interesting

The 3rd College Football Playoff Rankings just were released, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish did drop in the rankings. After Saturday’s game, that is the farthest thing from a surprise. However, the Irish only dropped 5 spots to number 8. I personally thought we would’ve been number 10. It’s looking like even though we had no business playing on Saturday night, the committee still values the Irish as a team, and they think that losing to a team like Miami that badly is still not the worst thing in the world.

The Alabama Crimson Tide move up to number 1, followed by the Clemson Tigers, then the Miami-Florida Hurricanes at 3, rounded out by the Oklahoma Sooners in the Top 4. The Top 4 pretty much makes sense.

Rankings of Note

Outside of the Top 4, the Georgia Bulldogs dropped to number 7 after they also got beat badly on Saturday by the Auburn Tigers. Auburn sits just on the outside at number 6, a very highly ranked 2-loss team. The USC Trojans are at number 11, while the Michigan State Spartans drop 5 spots to number 17 after their bad loss. The N.C. State Wolfpack sit at number 19. Notre Dame’s final two opponents, the Navy Midshipmen and the Stanford Cardinal, are un-ranked and number 22, respectfully.
