The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are favored to beat the N.C. State Wolfpack on Saturday afternoon by 7.5 points, according to both national and overseas sportsbooks.
The OddsShark computer simulation is expecting a tighter game than the bookies generating action, with No. 9 Notre Dame (6-1) prevailing 36-31 over the No. 14 Wolfpack (6-1).
The Irish have garnered 56 percent of the wagers, according to SportsInsights, although that doesn’t take into account the size of bets.
If you’re considering placing a wager on this game, here’s some things to consider (according to OddsShark):
- Notre Dame is 5-0 against the spread in their last five games. They’re 6-1 on the season, with the only failure to cover versus the Georgia Bulldogs.
- An “under” bet has paid out in each of N.C. State’s last four games. The “over” has paid out in four of Notre Dame’s last five games.
- Notre Dame is 5-2 against the spread in its last seven home games. N.C. State is 5-0 against the spread in its last five road games.

After a 19 carry, 191 yard, three touchdown performance, junior running back Josh Adams is finally on Westgate’s bet sheet for the Heisman trophy.
Oddsmakers say he’s a longer shot than two other running backs: the Penn State Nittany Lions’ Saquon Barkley and the Stanford Cardinal’s Bryce Love.

First, I weaned myself off suggesting Texas Tech Red Raiders games. This week, I’m not even recommending a Big 12 game if you want to maximize your odds of seeing “defense optional” football.
Last week, I promoted the West Virginia - Baylor game as your chance to see maximum fireworks. The game did not disappoint. It not only hit the over (74 combined points), but it was a two-point affair between a winless team (the Bears) and a conference front-runner (the Mountaineers). West Virginia was up 25 points entering the fourth quarter...and almost blew it. A timely sack snuffed out the Bears’ two point try with about 17 seconds left.
