The Notre Dame Fighting Irish got a commitment from Penn High School Safety, Paul Moala over the weekend. Moala is a 3 star prospect according to 247 Sports, and chose the Irish over schools like the Iowa Hawkeyes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and Vanderbilt Commodores.
Moala earned a scholarship offer this summer at Irish Invasion, and many thought the local Mishawaka product would commit fairly soon. Moala instead took his time, and evaluated his options before finally deciding this past weekend.
He joins Derrik Allen as the other safety in this class, but the Irish are still in hot pursuit of Julius Irvin from California as well. The Irish also added Navy safety transfer, Alohi Gilman during the summer, and he will have 3 years of eligibility remaining starting in 2018.
It sounds like the big recruiting weekend Notre Dame had in place for the game against the USC Trojans was a big success, and perhaps we will start seeing more fruits of that labor in the coming weeks.
