The Battle for the Jeweled Shillelagh between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the USC Trojans is just days away. Both teams come into the game ranked for the first time since 2009 with Southern Cal at #11 and the Irish ranked at #13 in the AP Poll.
Isn't it weird that in a rivalry of this importance that it took 8 years to have such a game? Even if it is fairly common throughout the country, it still seems pretty odd for this game - a game that has gave birth to so many national championships, a death to so many possible national championships, and a barrel full of Heisman Trophies.
And yet, here we are with just a HUGE game with national implications.
I'll save a massive speech here about the game and this series. Throughout the week we here at One Foot Down will be celebrating and discussing this rivalry game. We hope you join us, and this stream will serve as a nice feed for all the craps we are about to drop on SC.
