The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are going to get a kicker in this recruiting cycle. With all of the big names left on Notre Dame’s recruiting board that visited the Irish these past couple of weekends, it is easy to understand that a kicker got mixed in the shuffle.
Jonathon Doerer, a commit for the Maryland Terrapins, visited Notre Dame and was promptly flipped by the Irish coaching staff.

The 6’3” kicker from Charlotte, North Carolina held offers from the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Army Black Knights- as well as the aforementioned Maryland Terrapins.
Doerer is the #3 rated kicker in the country according to the kicking gurus at Chris Sailor Kicking. They had this to say about Doerer on their website:
Jonathan is a big time talent. He is big, tall, strong and athletic. He has perhaps the strongest leg in the nation in this class. Field goals are outstanding off the ground. Kickoffs are phenomenal. Hit an 80 yard, 4.20 kickoff (3/16). Dominated kickoffs at the 2016 Top Gun Camp (7/16). And could be a special punter with continued hard work. Jonathan has all the tools to absolutely dominate D1 football. A fine young man with incredible work ethic. The future is bright. Excellent prospect.
Doerer was given a 5.0 rating by the kicking service, which was the same rating as the #1 kicker.
Notre Dame’s starting kicker, Justin Yoon, is set to start his junior year so picking up another kicker now is a smart move for the Fighting Irish.
