DJ Harvey, a four star wing from DeMatha High School in Washington D.C. has verbally committed to Notre Dame for the incoming class of 2017. DeMatha, of course, is the alma mater of Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey.
Harvey was a consensus five star prospect in the spring, but after some summer camps, he was reevaluated as a four star prospect according to the 247 composite rankings.
Harvey is the first commitment for the incoming class of 2017, but there should be 2-3 more scholarships available after this season. College basketball has an early signing period for the 2017 class from November 9 to November 16. The regular signing period is April 12 to May 17.
Harvey, a very athletic shooting guard, chose the Irish over Alabama, Texas, and UConn among others. Mike Brey was heavily involved in getting this commitment and attended “every single event” according to Harvey. Harvey and his family also sat down with former DeMatha and Notre Dame star Jerian Grant as well.
Nice. Go Irish!
