Bagpipe Monday: Brian Kelly Owns Mark Dantonio

It’s called “ownage” when you own something. It’s a thing- look it up.

Welcome to another Bagpipe Monday here on One Foot Down. Friends, everyone in the media is telling us that THIS week, is the week we will know more about the Michigan State Spartans after a decisive 28-13 victory over Furman and a gratuitous bye week right before they take on our Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

That’s the narrative, and there is no way of changing it now.

Bagpipe Monday The wonderful @phillykelly

Another narrative, and one that I think should be more widely proclaimed, is that BRIAN KELLY OWNS MARK DANTONIO. For all of the love given to Dantonio for what he and Sparty have done over the years that he has been there, there seems to be a lack of respect given to the man that dominates that man and that awful mascot.

It’s a small sample size, but Brian Kelly is 3-1 against Dantonio and his Spartans. The lone loss was a 34-31 overtime thriller in 2010 in which Sparty ran a trick play to win- A PLAY THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN BECAUSE THE PLAY CLOCK WAS AT :00.

Moving on...

This is one of my favorite Notre Dame series for many reasons, and one of those reasons is that Sparty is a tough out. They play hard and, in many ways, are as worried about contact as convicts in the yard playing ball. It’s fun and it’s brutal, and I can’t wait.
