Notre Dame added to its already quite impressive 2017 recruiting class with the addition of Michael Young, a wide receiver from Destrehan, LA. He is listed at 5'11" and 175 lbs. The Irish have recruited Young to be a slot receiver. His primary recruiters were Autry Denson and Mike Denbrock. Young's recruitment went on a small rollercoaster ride. He visited for Irish Invasion back in June, and word was that he was about to commit while in South Bend. He decided to bide his time, return home, and visit a couple other of school's to see what his options were. His top three came down to Notre Dame, Oregon, and Texas A&M. While many pegged him to be an Irish lock (247 Sport's Crystal Ball had 90% prediction of him going to Notre Dame), the staff wasn't as confident that he would end up in South Bend. The staff was worried that Texas A&M was going to nab Young from their own backyard. All in all, the Notre Dame staff was able to keep the Aggies away and made sure to lock up his commitment.
Cohort
Along with Notre Dame, Young holds offers from Texas A&M, Oregon, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Virginia Tech, and Virginia, among others.

Highlights
Michael Young is definitely a nice grab for this class that currently ranks in the top 5 in the 247 Composite Rankings. While he won't be the headliner of the class, he is still very talented and adds depth to the wide receiver position, with the possibility of switching sides of the ball. Young is currently the second wide receiver committed in the 2017 class so far along with Jordan Pouncey. They'll look to add a few more bodies to the class, with commitments more than likely coming from Tarik Black, Osiris St. Brown, and quite possibly Hezekiah Jones.
Welcome to the Irish, Michael!
