All tired out from the NFL Draft? Me too. Through the 7 rounds of the Draft we saw 7 Fighting Irish players selected: Ronnie Stanley, Will Fuller, Jaylon Smith, Nick Martin, Keivarae Russell, C.J. Prosise, and Sheldon Day. All of those players went within the first 4 round while no Notre Dame players were taken in the final 3 rounds.
However, a group of players have already signed free agent deals with NFL clubs after not hearing their names called this weekend.
Both defensive back Matthias Farley and wideout Amir Carlisle are headed to the desert and have signed with the Arizona Cardinals.
The Dallas Cowboys drafted Jaylon Smith and he'll have some company as receiver Chris Brown signed a deal with Dallas.
Defensive end Romeo Okwara heads to the Big Apple and has signed with the New York Giants.
Lastly, safety Elijah Shumate has announced he's signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Only two more players who were looking to be drafted are still in the mix. As of now, nothing has been reported on the future of linebacker Jarrett Grace while defensive end Ishaq Williams has been invited to the New York Giants rookie try-out camp.
It's always an up-hill climb to make a squad for late-round draft picks to say nothing of the UDFA deals that are signed following the Draft. That said, best of luck to everyone in their quest to play professional football.
