2016 NFL Draft: Notre Dame Corner KeiVarae Russell Selected 74th Overall by the Kansas City Chiefs

This NFL team is getting a lot of athleticism and a lot of confidence.

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

KeiVarae Russell fulfilled a NFL dream today after being selected by the Kansas City Chiefs with the 11th pick of the 3rd Round.

He came to Notre Dame from Mariner High School in Everett, Washington as the No. 6 all-purpose back and No. 145 overall recruit in the country. A three-year starter, Russell surprised everyone by switching from running back as a true freshman and starting at corner during Notre Dame's run to the 2012 National Championship. An academic suspension cost him the 2014 season but he fought through injury last year to finish 2015 with 60 tackles, 3.5 TFL, and 2 interceptions.

Congratulations to Keivarae and his family!
