Notre Dame will get a huge group of California kids on campus this week when the B2G 7-on-7 team makes the trip to South Bend tomorrow after competing in a tournament in Chicago this weekend. Over 20 prospects are supposed to be on campus, and we'll talk about some of the big names here.
Five-Star Visitors
Two 5-star receivers will be on campus tomorrow with Joseph Lewis (2017) and Jalen Hall (2018) coming to town. Both LA Hawkins prospects are widely considered USC leans at this point, with the Trojans holding 100% of the crystal balls for both athletes. I don't expect either of these guys to end up playing in South Bend, but there is still plenty of time for them to (hopefully) prove me wrong.
Johnson, Johnson, and Johnson
Along with Lewis and Hall, pair of brothers from LA Hawkins will visit on Monday in Greg Johnson (2017) and Marcus Johnson (2018). Greg, a Top 100 player in the 247 Composite, is listed as an athlete and is currently committed to Arizona. His younger brother, Marcus, is a 4-star cornerback who just recently received an offer from ND last month.
A third Johnson will be on campus in the form of Buena Park 4-star receiver Taariq Johnson (2017). Taariq had Notre Dame in his top group a few months ago, but nothing else came of it before he committed to Cal earlier this month.
Hawkins HS is Loaded
A few more notable recruits from LA Hawkins include 4-star defensive back Aashari Crosswell (2018), linebacker Victor Terry (2018), and RB/LB De'Gabriel Floyd (2019). All three will be looking to receive a Notre Dame offer this week, with Aashari being the strongest candidate to receive one. Victor is likely a guy to keep an eye on down the road, and De'Gabriel may very well end up being among the best in 2019 when all is said and done.
Signal-Callers
Two quarterbacks will be among those visiting campus. Chaminade 4-star quarterback Brevin White (2018) and unranked Mater Dei signal-caller JT Daniels (2019) are among the best QBs around the West Coast. Since things are going so well with Phil Jurkovec, the top dual-threat quarterback in 2018, I wouldn't expect Brevin to earn an offer this week. JT, however, has already earned his offer. He started for powerhouse Mater Dei his freshman year and looked extremely impressive. This is his first visit to South Bend. He really likes Notre Dame and (for what it's worth) 247's Tom Loy already has him crystal-balled to the Irish.
Other Names to Know
Another name to know is that of Orange Lutheran's 4-star safety, Brandon McKinney (2017). The Top 200 athlete is another guy that is a good bet to receive an offer this week. He currently holds offers from UCLA, Arizona State, Washington, and Boston College.
Another couple of notable 2019 recruits will be taking their first trip to South Bend. Junipero Serra defensive back Max Williams and Mater Dei athlete Bru McCoy are set to take in Notre Dame for the first time. Max currently holds offers from Florida State, Louisville, LSU, Maryland, Washington State, and Boston College. Bru currently has offers from Oregon and Arizona State.
This is an excellent opportunity for the staff to make a good impression on some of the best players in the country. This is the first visit to Notre Dame for a lot of these guys, and it will be interesting to see what kind of headway can be made. These visits could set the tone for some of the later recruiting classes, and this week may end up being a big factor in landing an elite QB for 2019.
