As I'm sure you all know, this past week has seen both the elation of victory and the agony of defeat. I could talk about how ludicrous it was that we battled back from a 10-point deficit to take the lead against North Carolina, only to see them score on literally(1) 13 straight possessions. I could wring my hands over the blindsiding upset sprung on our ladies by #4 Stanford. I could even moan and groan about how unfair it was that our hockey team ended up losing in overtime to Michigan in the playoffs.
However, to dwell on all those negatives would be an insult to the incredible seasons that all three of these teams put together. The MBB squad made consecutive trips to the Elite Eight for the first time in several decades, and most of their core players are returning next year. The WBB ladies aren't going away anytime soon, and if we're disappointed because they didn't make it to another Final Four, then I think you're missing the big picture. And for the hockey fellows, we are only going to get stronger next year. So what I'm trying to say is that we have an awful lot to be thankful for with these wonderful representatives of Our Lady's University. Loyal sons and daughters of Notre Dame, we salute you.
Last Week's Winner
Much like this week, Zach Auguste was featured prominently in last week's Holy Week TSW. While his athletic play against Michigan certainly turned some heads, so did these two brilliant captions by Kelly's Gyros (for the historically-minded) and NDJuiceBox (because sometimes the simplest jokes are the best).
Last Week's Poll Results
Not to reopen any fresh bracket-inflicted wounds, but let's see how the OFD Commentariat is doing with their March Madness picks...
Surprisingly, we had a fairly equal split between the good, the bad, and the downright ugly.
For this week's photo, we have Zach Auguste chasing down a loose ball in Notre Dame's huge Sweet Sixteen victory over the Wisconsin Badgers. Go nuts with your captions and photoshops, folks.
GO IRISH, BEAT EVERYONE!!
