The Irish just got better today.

Finally, the football program is getting a dose of some good news.

2017 OT Aaron Banks, of El Cerrito, California, has committed to Notre Dame.

A four-star prospect in the 247 Composite rankings, Banks picked the Irish over offers from a slew of other major programs, including UCLA, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, and others.

247 has him listed as the 172nd top prospect in the country, the 19th best offensive tackle, and the 20th best prospect in the talent-rich state of California.

With the commitment, Notre Dame now has 18 commitments lined up for the 2017 class, including 11 blue-chip players. That’s good for the 6th best class nationally, ahead of USC, Miami, Florida State, Auburn, and more.

At 6-foot-7, 315 pounds, Banks projects to add some size and strength to Notre Dame’s offensive line. He is joining four-star Joshua Lugg, four-star Robert Hainsey and three-star Dillan Gibbons as offensive linemen in this current class.

Congrats to Banks, and welcome to South Bend!
