Notre Dame Football: Brian Kelly Reportedly Wants Out at Notre Dame

The rumors continue to swirl about Brian Kelly and Notre Dame football

NCAA Football: Notre Dame at Southern California Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

A few days after Notre Dame’s season ending loss to USC rumors came out that head coach Brian Kelly reportedly wanted out at Notre Dame and was actively looking for other jobs. Kelly immediately came out and refuted the rumors saying he was fully committed to Notre Dame.

Those rumors resurfaced Thursday as Pro Football Weekly has reported that Kelly wants out of South Bend and is doing anything he can to find a spot in the NFL. PFW also reported that no NFL team is currently interested in Kelly’s services.

The validity of these reports are uncertain as PFW is the only outlet that has reported on this issue. None of the trusted Notre Dame reporters or outlets have yet to say anything about Kelly potentially leaving or looking to leave.

It also would seem odd for Kelly to try and make this move right now. He just hired two new assistants (Mike Elko and Brian Polian) and also has the task of hiring two more with the loss of Mike Sanford and Mike Denbrock. My initial thoughts are that this is strictly just a rumor. Unless a trusted source close to the program comes out and confirms PFW’s report, expect Kelly to be the coach of the Fighting Irish in 2017.

If more on this subject comes out, make sure to keep up with us here at One Foot Down.
