Torii Hunter Jr. Leaves Game With Apparent Knee Injury

The Irish receiver took a low hit and needed assistance to get off the field

NCAA Football: Miami at Notre Dame Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Torii Hunter Jr. was off to a huge start against Navy, but right now it looks as if that start has come to a hard stop.

On a catch over the middle, the Navy strong safety went low and the receiver wasn’t looking. It’s a tough break, as Hunter needed assistance from trainers to get off the field. Things looked bleak.

At this point, however, Torii Hunter Jr. is reportedly walking around on the sideline, joking, and doing some light bike work. If that’s truly the case, the Irish are dodging a huge bullet and hopefully won’t lose a weapon on offense. Hunter Jr. was already lost for one game after a concussion early in the season. The Notre Dame receiving core is deep, but Torii Hunter Jr. is the captain and the most experienced among them.

In the meantime, Navy’s offense is doing Navy things with their triple option, having tied up the game on a 9-play drive. The Notre Dame offense responded with a field goal from Justin Yoon.
