Irish Strike First, Kizer Finds Hunter For the Touchdown

The play capped off a 10-play, 83-yard drive

NCAA Football: Navy at Notre Dame Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning and welcome to brunch football! While you were just getting into your first Bloody Mary, Mimosa or Irish Coffee (we’re not judging you), the Irish offense went to work on Navy in Jacksonville.

The Middies gave up 412 rushing yards in their loss to USF last week, so collective wisdom of the Notre Dame fanbase (14-time EA NCAA Football national champion, here, I’m sure the rest of us sport similar credentials) is to RTDB. What would the Irish offensive game plan actually be?

The answer to that is three runs between Josh Adams and Dexter Williams for a total of 24 yards. It seems Notre Dame would rather take advantage of the huge mismatch when it comes to the Irish receivers and Navy defensive backs. It paid off on the first drive.

Torii Hunter Jr. had four catches on the drive, including that time he found himself completely alone down the middle of the field on fourth and 20. Kizer put it on the money:

Now we get to all sit back and enjoy the relaxing sights and sounds of the Navy triple option.
