The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have had a rough season. 4-7 rough. Losing to Duke rough. Academic probation rough. Questioning Brian Kelly’s employment status rough. None of it has been fun. Even the wins have been so covered in disappointment, it’s hard to imagine that we were all foaming at the mouth for 8 months to get this season started.
What fools we have been- and continue to be.
The season isn’t over and there is still one battle left on the table. The Battle for the Jeweled Shillelagh against the USC Trojans.
I’ve asked the staff here at One Foot Down to share some of their more memorable experiences regarding this rivalry, and hopefully they are able to step away from family and friends over Thanksgiving to provide some of their anecdotes.
Like I said though... 2016 has been rough, so hopefully a few of them can climb out of the bottle of bourbon to do just that. Don’t think that they are the only ones that I’m calling out though. No sir... y’all can get involved in this exercise of selective memory.
Please share your own Trojan stories (you know what I mean) with One Foot Down. Whether that’s a Fanpost on the site, or even just a good old-fashioned comment, we would love to hear your tales of bravery, despair, and victory. Maybe that includes a tailgate gone wrong, or maybe you were there for the Bush Push, or perhaps you got arrested in Los Angeles for public intoxication after Notre Dame’s win in 2012 (they ain’t vacating my memory- no matter what). Whatever- we want to know.
Give it a try, and Go Irish!
