The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have come to play some football in San Antonio, Texas. Good starts are nothing new for Notre Dame, but anytime you are 3-6, starting the game off with a bang is a real plus.
This was incredibly true on the opening kickoff of the game. CJ Sanders, who is starting at wide receiver today for an injured Tori Hunter Junior, took the kickoff 92 yards for the touchdown with an explosive run.

That had to feel really good for Sanders and the special teams unit after a few weeks of some truly embarrassing plays.
The Notre Dame defense did its part and stuffed the Army option attack to give the ball to the offense for the first time. The Irish didn’t take long and DeShone Kizer found Kevin Stepherson for a 37 yard touchdown pass.

The Notre Dame defense does their job again and forces another punt from the Army Black Knights. Could Notre Dame really put this one out of reach early with another touchdown?
Yes.
After a short drive, a Kizer touchdown run that was negated for an illegal formation penalty, the Irish got a pass interference penalty in their favor and found themselves with a 1st and goal at the 2.
Josh Adams gets his number called and he runs it in and with the added extra point, Notre Dame goes up 21-0 with more than three and a half minutes left in the first quarter.
