Although that seems a little boring (if you’re a sadist looking for a deep story here), after a little deeper reflection, you will realize that playing a game in a hurricane does little to nothing if you want to gauge how the young secondary will play.

Yes, for all of the excitement (kind of) of seeing so many freshmen on the two deep in the secondary, we weren’t able to witness any improvements. This week, however, Notre Dame will be playing in a much different environment and given the poor offensive play of the Cardinal so far in 2016, maybe we see the confidence in these kids grow as we work towards the bye week.

Tarean Folston, although listed on the depth chart for the past two weeks, has not played in the last two games due to an ankle injury that he suffered in practice before the Syracuse game. Given the sluggish look of the senior running back in games this year, it’s hard to imagine him getting more than a handful of carries this week- even if he is fully healthy.

I remain completely and utterly amazed that Jay Hayes and Daelin Hayes are not 1A and 1B. Andrew Trumbetti has looked absolutely ineffective this season, and Notre Dame needs much more production at the position. I don’t believe he holds the point of attack well at all, and given the power offense that Stanford likes to run, perhaps the depth chart listing is a moot point.

5 Guys I’d like to see more of:

Jay Hayes
Chase Claypool
Donte Vaughn
A tight end- any tight end making plays
Tyler Luatua (closest thing we have to a fullback)
