Notre Dame freshman wide receiver Kevin Stepherson found himself all alone behind the Syracuse defense again Saturday afternoon, and this time, DeShone Kizer dropped it right in for the 54-yard touchdown.
Stepherson ran right by the Syracuse DBs on a similar play in the first half, but Kizer overthrew what should have been a sure touchdown. Stepherson continues to be yet another bright spot in a group of wide receivers that are flourishing with DeShone Kizer throwing them the ball.
With the touchdown pass, Kizer has now thrown for 424 yards and three touchdowns. The conversation around Kizer’s expectations from his coach and for himself versus his performance continues, but you just can’t scoff at that stat line. However, having completed 16 of his 24 passes, Kizer and the rest of the offense have left some yards - and some points - on the field. With the way the defense is playing at this point in the season and the schedule the Irish face in the future, you can’t do that.
