Trick Shot Wednesday: Wake Forest Week 2015

The Irish take a break from terrorizing furry and feathery creatures to set their sights on the Demon Deacons.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

By the time you read this, unless you live under a rock, you've heard that Notre Dame is now ranked #4 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings. And if you've heard about the rankings, then you probably also know that they ain't worth a hill o' beans until the regular season's done and the bowl assignments are settled. Still, better to be #4 than #14, eh?

Speaking of things everyone hates, it was pretty darn cathartic to finally--FINALLY--enjoy a (relatively) comfortable victory over Pitt, wasn't it? I mean, sure, things got a tad exciting when the Panthers got a scoop-and-score to pull within two scores...but compared to years past, we weren't lighting up our heart doctors' phone lines.

What tho' the odds be great or small, let's make sure we get out there and take care of business this week against Wake Forest.

Last Week's Winners

During last week's feature of "I'm a Leaf on the Wind" starring Romeo Okwara, several of you weighed in with some solid entries.

--jbaroz opened the scoring with a photo smuggled out of the CFP Committee's team-building retreat from last month:

--Some, like RiseUpIrish, took a more...(sigh) lowbrow approach:

--In a submission that may have dated me a little bit, I discovered a little Easter egg hidden in my totally sweet Windows 98 space screensaver:

--cfarris182 offers a poignant social commentary on the state of NCAA officiating this year:

--And for the winning entry, NDJuiceBox wrote what may be one of the shortest-ever captions to win TSW:

Thanks for all your submissions, everyone!

Poll Results

Although this week's mascot is technically a mammal (we think), the Demon Deacon did not make an appearance in last week's poll:

Boy, that owl is hanging in there pretty well considering he only got 2 votes! Tough to argue against a tiger...though any self-respectin' fightin' Irishman would keep a blunderbuss on his person to deal with such a beast.

This Week's Photo

For your captioning pleasure this week, we present a still life of DeShone Kizer warding off would-be tackler Ejuan Price of Pitt. It's kinda poetic, really; in the midst of the whirlwind of rankings and talking heads and sound and fury, it all comes down to a QB politely telling a defender, "Not today, bud."

Give us your best captions and photoshops, and we'll see you in the comments!

GO IRISH, BEAT (DEMON) DEACONS!!
