We've had a pair of tackles come off the Big Board over the past several weeks. The first was (CA) Kahlil McKenzie .993 who committed to Tennessee shortly after our last post on this position group. The 5-star talent from California was also named the #1 prospect in the country by Scout in their latest rankings update.

The second verbal went to (TX) Du'Vonta Lampkin .889 who joined Texas' class in July.
At one point Notre Dame appeared very interested in Bishop Dunne's Darrion Daniels but he recently released a Top 10 that did not include the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame is still trying to get into the picture with St. Catherines, Ontario star Neville Gallimore but the recent news there hasn't been very positive. He's scheduled a September 13th visit to Oklahoma and will also be going back for an official visit to Ohio State as well. The Irish really want to get one of his other official visits.
The national outlook for Rasheem Green is holding steady as a lock to Southern California.
The Irish went into the New England prep school ranks to snag kicker Justin Yoon and are still hanging around things for Suffield Academy's Christian Wilkins. Per a recent interview Clemson, Boston College, Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame, Stanford, and North Carolina are sticking out to him with constant communication.
One player from this list who still might be a realistic option is Joseph Wicker from Long Beach Poly. He plans on taking official visits to Miami, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Washington, and Notre Dame.

A couple more players came off the Big Board at defensive end so we'll see if Notre Dame begins to hand out more offers at a position of need. The first was (GA) Austin Bryant .931 committing to Clemson a few weeks ago. He visited campus during the summer and plans on taking official visits to Notre Dame and Stanford so we'll see if he follows through with that.

Our other verbal off the board was (TX) James Lockhart .949 who joins Texas A&M's class.

You could make the case that Byron Cowart remains the top player on Notre Dame's board but even after a summer visit it looks like the in-state powers of Florida State and Florida are going to be tough to beat. Cowart has mentioned he'd like to commit in December after his senior season but had this to say last night:
I'm tired I think I'll make my decision soon

Late last month Notre Dame also got some more bad news as Keisean Lucier-South released a Top 5 that did not feature the Irish.

There are a couple linebackers who project to defensive end at the next level who are still considering Notre Dame but the Composite DE situation is not looking good right now.
Inside Linebacker | |||||||||
Score | Player | State | Ht/Wt. | Temperature | 1* | 2* | 3* | 4* | 5* |
.911 | Asmar Bilal | IN | 6-3/205 | Hot
.880 | Tevon Coney | FL | 6-2/225 | Mild
.985 | John Houston | CA | 6-3/211 | Cold |
We're still waiting to see if Asmar Bilal makes a decision soon. He appears to be in a razor thin choice between Michigan and Notre Dame and has always planned to commit before his senior season. That leaves him just a couple more weeks to decide!
There's been a lot of positive buzz with Tevon Coney ever since he visited South Bend this summer.

He's coming off a recent visit to Miami and will be at Notre Dame for an official visit during the Michigan game weekend. Coney plans on committing in September but is also scheduled to visit Florida in October for their game against LSU.
