Impact:
Immediate Future:
Regardless of the position that Boykin ends up playing at the collegiate level, it is likely that he take a redshirt his first year on campus. This is especially true if the staff wants him as a flex TE option, as he will need to add ~30 lbs.
Long Term/Career:
There is quite a bit of variability between sites on Boykin-he ranges from 6'3" to 6'5". He is a big target and may be a slightly better fit at TE for this offense, assuming he can put on the additional weight. His size makes him difficult to redirect at the prep level and he does a great job high-pointing the ball. He should grow into and excellent red zone option as well as a good target to move the chains. Overall, his size is a nice compliment to the other receivers in this class and should have a very productive career for the Irish.
Welcome to Notre Dame Miles!
