Coach Brian Kelly received his 13th verbal commitment for the 2015 class today from CB Shaun Crawford (Lakewood, OH - St. Edward).  He is listed at 5'9.5"/170 lbs and reports a 4.50 40 yard dash time.

Crawford last visited South Bend in May, after which he decommitted from Michigan (he had committed in Aug 2013).  He has been considered an ND lean since his visit and chose the Irish over offers from Ohio State, Florida State, Miami and Michigan State, among others.

Impact:

Immediate Future:

Crawford has instant impact written all over him.  Minimally, he will contribute on special teams units as a freshman but he could earn a spot in the rotation at corner.  Regardless, he should see the field early and often during his Irish career.

Long Term/Career:

After watching his highlight tape, it is easy to see why Crawford is ranked as one of the top corners in this class.  The only knock on him is size, but the rest of his skill set more than makes up for any criticism experts can bring up.  He probably needs to add around 20-25 lbs to get to an ideal collegiate playing weight.  His man coverage abilities should fit in very well with the more aggressive defense under DC Brian VanGorder.

Welcome to Notre Dame Shaun!
