Coach Brian Kelly received his 12th verbal commitment for the 2015 class today from DT Elijah Taylor (Cincinnati, OH - Archbishop Moeller). He is listed at 6'3"/285 lbs.
Taylor visited South Bend most recently in April. He chose the Irish over offers from Florida State, Ohio State, Michigan State and Tennessee among others.
I'm officially committed to The University of Notre Dame!

Impact:
Immediate Future:
Taylor is likely a player who can step in and add some depth on the interior of the defensive line immediately for the Irish, even if only for 8-10 snaps per game. That being said, he may still ultimately take the year as a redshirt to develop and work on strength and conditioning, but having him available can only be a good thing for the staff.
Long Term/Career:
Taylor reminds me a bit of Sheldon Day, not only in his frame but a bit in his style as well. His highlights show him as a very active player on the interior of the line with a non-stop motor. He uses his hands very well for a prep player in engaging and then shedding blockers. All told, he is an excellent addition to this recruiting class and will be a significant contributor through his career for the Irish.
Welcome to Notre Dame Elijah!
