2015 Notre Dame Recruiting Big Board: DT, DE, ILB

After a big class in 2014 the Irish are staying picky for these positions in 2015.

Welcome back to the latest installment of the One Foot Down Recruiting Big Board for Notre Dame Football. We are continuing to bring you monthly updates at each positional grouping. Today we swing back around to the big bodies on defense.

Defensive Tackle

.912 Darrion Daniels TX 6-3/290 Mild
.991 Rasheem Green CA 6-5/275 Cold

.909 T.D. Moton LA 6-2/310 Cold
.989 Tim Settle VA 6-3/318 Cold
.932 Darvin Taylor VA 6-2/295 Cold
.889 Elijah Taylor OH 6-3/275 Mild
.990 Shy Tuttle NC 6-3/315 Cold
.971 Christian Wilkins CT 6-4/290 Cold
.920 Joseph Wicker CA 6-4/265 Cold

The Irish coaching staff was down in the southeast recently and offered Albert Huggins from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School in South Carolina. He's carrying offers from Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, and LSU so I'll be shocked if Notre Dame gets seriously involved here.

Du'Vonta Lampkin left Oklahoma's class in late April and was offered two days later by Notre Dame. He recently released a top three of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas.

Back in late April the Irish also offered Cincinnati native (OH) Jordan Thompson .853 but he committed to Northwestern a couple weeks later.

Notre Dame appears out of the picture with Jacob Daniel as he favors Oregon and USC with a decision likely coming during the summer. Darrion Daniels is still supposed to visit this summer but nothing has been scheduled yet.

Keep an eye on Khalil McKenzie. Notre Dame isn't a favorite but is still hanging around in the picture. Add Wilkins to that list as well.

Elijah Taylor has been high on Notre Dame and took the following visits this spring: Notre Dame, Purdue, Tennessee, Ohio State, and Michigan State. Lately it's looking like Ohio State is the team to beat. He also recently picked up an offer from Florida State.

Green, Moton, Settle, Darvin Taylor, Tuttle, and Wicker are not in the picture right now. Notre Dame did not make Settle's recent top 10 list.

Defensive End

.990 Byron Cowart FL 6-4/250 Cold

.945 Darian Roseboro NC 6-4/265 Cold
.991 Josh Sweat VA 6-5/237 Cold
.869 Darrell Taylor VA 6-4/220 Cold

Several new offers have gone out since our last update a month ago. Michael Barnett was one of the offers given out in South Carolina. He was once a Virginia Tech commit and has a very impressive offer list.

St. Ignatius in Cleveland is the high school for Dre'Mont Jones who has Ohio State leading. He's also highly interested in Michigan and talks frequently with Notre Dame. It could be a big win in the state of Ohio if Urban Meyer lands both Jones and Elijah Taylor who are two Catholic school kids interested in the Irish.

Sterling Johnson is another offer from the Carolinas and is a huge body. He currently has Tennessee as his leader.

Notre Dame also offered the top player in Virginia Josh Sweat who probably won't give South Bend a legit look. Darrel Taylor is another Virginian who picked up an offer from Notre Dame. He's also received offers from Oklahoma, Penn State, Michigan State, and West Virginia in recent days.

About a week ago the Irish offered Texas commit (TX) Charles Omenihu .852 and he appears solid to the Longhorns.

Chalk up Byron Cowart as a player who is trying to come to the Irish Invasion camp in late June.

As I mentioned in the most recent podcast I think things are quietly going smoothly with Jashon Cornell who as you can see is one of the few defensive linemen highly interested. If he still plans on committing in late August and makes it to Irish Invasion I really like Notre Dame's chances.

Inside Linebacker
Score Player State Ht/Wt. Temperature 1* 2* 3* 4* 5*
.909 Asmar Bilal IN 6-3/205 Mild
.986 John Houston CA 6-3/211 Cold

As part of their spring game recruiting party the Alabama Crimson Tide picked up a commitment of (MS) Leo Lewis .966 a few weeks ago.

It's no secret that Bilal is now one of the top priorities on defense since his offer in early April. He still hasn't visited anywhere since coming to South Bend the weekend of his Irish offer but A&M, Oregon, Missouri, and Tennessee have offered. For now Notre Dame is still trending nicely and should get Bilal on campus again soon.
