Coach Brian Kelly received his 5th verbal commitment for the 2015 class today from WR Jalen Guyton (Allen, TX - Allen).  He is listed at 6'0"/180 lbs.

Guyton visited South Bend a little over a week ago after picking up an offer in February.  He chose Notre Dame over offers from Arizona State, Stanford, Baylor and Ohio State among others.

Immediate Future:

As shown by Will Fuller, Corey Robinson, and James Onwualu last fall, it isn't out of the realm of possibility for a freshman wide receiver to see the field in Brian Kelly's offense.  Guyton certainly has the tools to follow in their footsteps in 2015, but it may be a challenge to break through the talent ahead of him.  He could potentially contribute on special teams but it is more likely that he sits out the year to add some weight and learn the offense.

Long Term/Career:

Guyton is an excellent wide receiver prospect for the Irish.  His highlights remind me quite a bit of recent graduate TJ Jones-he is an extremely fluid and polished receiver.  His route running abilities allow for him to get separation even in good coverage.  He is likely underrated by the services as this point, and will likely move up over the summer and fall.  He could play any of the receiver spots in the offense, but may be best suited to playing outside.

Welcome to Notre Dame Jalen!
