RECRUITING MANBALL STYLE, EXCEPT FOR DEFENSE

Welcome back to the latest installment of the One Foot Down Recruiting Big Board for Notre Dame Football. Last week we provided an update at wide receiver, tight end, and offensive line. Today, we look at three power positions on the defensive side of the ball.

Defensive Tackle
Score Player State Ht/Wt. Temperature 1* 2* 3* 4* 5*
.979 Jacob Daniel CA 6-4/310 Cold
.923 Darrion Daniels TX 6-3/290 Mild
.990 Rasheem Green CA 6-5/275 Cold
.967 Kahlil McKenzie CA 6-4/309 Cold
.948 Adam McLean MD 6-2/290 Mild
.938 T.D. Moton LA 6-4/310 Cold
.990 Tim Settle VA 6-3/305 Cold
.939 Darvin Taylor VA 6-2/295 Cold
.908 Elijah Taylor OH 6-3/275 Mild
.991 Shy Tuttle NC 6-3/315 Cold
.974 Christian Wilkins CT 6-4/290 Cold

Notre Dame has targeted a lot of bodies early on at defensive tackle and only player, (TX) Daylon Mack .992 is committed right now. Mack has been with the Aggies since late October and is the Composite 11th best player in the country. T.D. Moton, who watched the Irish play at AT&T Stadium in the fall, committed to Miss State for a couple months but left the Bulldogs class shortly after the New Year.

The Irish are putting a lot of effort into Daniel but any potential visit might have to wait until after summer. Darrion Daniels is someone to watch coming from Bishop Dunne (same high school as incoming frosh Nick Watkins). He has a good relationship with Cooks and should visit Notre Dame in the spring or summer.

Green comes from a Catholic school in LA County (Junipero Serra) and Notre Dame is trying to get him to visit. McKenzie is another tackle from California in the same boat. He likes Notre Dame but has not lined up a visit yet.

Someone who is very high on ND's board is Adam McLean. He was offered about 10 days ago and will be on campus later this week. Darvin Taylor wanted to visit for Junior Day but ultimately didn't make it up to South Bend.

Elijah Taylor has visited for this past fall's USC game and recently came to Notre Dame's Junior Day. He may not make a decision anytime soon but if he did before summer is over the Irish have a great shot.

Settle might be the top tackle in the country and has carried an Irish offer for a long time but there's nothing going on between the two parties right now. Tuttle is another guy with an offer from Notre Dame for nearly a year but with no communication right now. Wilkins comes from a New England prep school but hasn't said much since getting a ND offer in late February.

Another player on Notre Dame's radar without an offer is (IN) Brandon Tiassum .866 who recently visited for Junior Day.

Defensive End
Score Player State Ht/Wt. Temperature 1* 2* 3* 4* 5*
.925 Austin Bryant GA 6-5/245 Cold
.985 Jashon Cornell MN 6-4/270 Mild
.985 Byron Cowart FL 6-4/250 Cold
.995 CeCe Jefferson FL 6-2/250 Cold
.952 James Lockhart TX 6-3/245 Cold
.980 Keisean Lucier-South CA 6-5/215 Cold
.867 Scott Patchan FL 6-5/225 Cold
.976 Natrez Patrick GA 6-3/220 Cold
.948 Darian Roseboro NC 6-4/265 Cold

The offers at defensive end aren't as plentiful as tackle but there's still a good amount handed out already. Only (GA) Andrew Butcher .894 is committed (Tennessee) from the offer list. He does have some interest in Notre Dame, though.

Lockhart saw the Irish play in Dallas last year but he's not planning on visiting campus right now. Lucier-South has a good relationship with ND coaches and may visit in the future. Roseboro was offered about a month ago and may visit this spring.

Not much info out there on Patchan who is a bit of a curious offer given that Notre Dame is really shooting for the stars with their other offers.

Not much going on with Bryant, Cowart, Jefferson, and Patrick.

Cornell has been a major focus for the Irish staff having already visited campus 3 times and also attending the Miami game at Soldier Field way back in 2012. Notre Dame is believed to have a nice lead here but the staff will definitely want to get him back on campus before the fall.

Inside Linebacker
Score Player State Ht/Wt. Temperature 1* 2* 3* 4* 5*
.932 Josh Barajas IN 6-3/210 Hot
.989 John Houston CA 6-3/205 Cold
.959 Leo Lewis MS 6-3/225 Cold

Not many offers at middle linebacker with Notre Dame likely only looking for one prospect at this position for 2015. That player could very well be Josh Barajas who visited for Junior Day, received an offer, and has the Irish as his favorite right now.

That's really all that's going on at inside linebacker. Houston and Lewis will likely be long shots and the only other offer is to (FL) Cecil Cherry .889 who is committed to Tennessee.

In-state linebacker Asmar Bilal .913 is someone to watch out for in the future to get an offer.
