Welcome back to the OFD Big Board for December 2, 2014.

.961 | Tim Settle | VA | 6-2/362 | Cold
.970 | Christian Wilkins | CT | 6-4/290 | Mild
.921 | Joseph Wicker | CA | 6-2/265 | Mild
Nothing much to report on this front, with no changes in status for any of the Cold guys and no updates on the Mild guys. Christian Wilkins has talked about visiting Notre Dame but hasn't set anything up yet, and plays things very close to the vest anyway. Penn State is widely considered the leader for his services, especially after his official visit last weekend. In addition to Happy Valley, Wilkins has taken official visits to Clemson and Stanford, with Ohio State and Notre Dame still hoping to get him on campus.
Joseph Wicker has talked even more strongly about visiting the Irish, but also hasn't scheduled anything yet. Word as of Monday was still that he planned to visit in January, though:
Touched base with Long Beach (Calif.) Poly DL Joseph Wicker today. He still plans to give ND official, likely in Jan. http://t.co/LvZJKc9Mp0

Interestingly, the Long Beach Poly standout says the person who gives him the most advice about Notre Dame is former teammate and current USC star Juju Smith. So far, Wicker has taken official visits to Texas Tech, Arizona State, and leader UCLA; he has said the Irish will be his fourth visit and hasn't decided on a fifth yet.
Since our last update, (MD) Adam McLean somewhat surprisingly decommitted from Penn State. What's even stranger is that his first official visit was to Washington State, and he seems legitimately interested in them. He'll also visit Ole Miss and possibly South Carolina, but beyond that is open. He has a Notre Dame offer but the Irish were never really in play here and don't seem to be now.
Defensive End | |||||||||
Score | Player | State | Ht/Wt. | Temperature | 1* | 2* | 3* | 4* | 5* |
.997 | Byron Cowart | FL | 6-4/250 | Cold
.997 | CeCe Jefferson | FL | 6-2/250 | Cold
.999 | Josh Sweat | VA | 6-4/240 | Cold |
The main news at defensive end is that Keisean Lucier-South has committed to UCLA. He announced his commitment with a pretty classy note:
Right before their big win against USC, UCLA picked up a commitment from a 5-star LB. http://t.co/tgYXMki4vj pic.twitter.com/HvomVhD7n2

Doesn't seem like he would fit with what Mora is building, but hey, to each his own.
All-World prospect Byron Cowart named Florida State his new leader after Florida fired Will Muschamp, but could take a longer look at Auburn if they hire Muschamp as their new defensive coordinator. Sounds crazy, I know, but there's some smoke out there. Kids.

CeCe Jefferson is another Florida lean who could be affected by the Muschamp dismissal. Not in any way that makes him consider the Irish, though.
Clowney clone Josh Sweat was the 247 Composite #1 overall but in their recent re-rankings dropped to #6. Must be hard on him... His presumed leaders are Florida State and Virginia Tech, while the Irish are not and never have been in the picture.

Score | Player | State | Ht/Wt. | Temperature | 1* | 2* | 3* | 4* | 5* |
.982 | John Houston | CA | 6-3/211 | Cold |
With Josh Barajas, Tevon Coney, and Asmar Bilal already in the fold and greater needs elsewhere, the Irish are OK with not being involved with any remaining prospects here.
John Houston, #38 overall in the 247 Composite, will probably choose USC. The Junipero Serra product was just named co-MVP of his league. Again, the Irish aren't remotely in the picture here.
