Coach Brian Kelly received his 15th verbal commitment for the 2014 class today from WR Corey Holmes (Ft. Lauderdale, FL - St. Thomas Aquinas). He is listed at 6'2"/175 lbs and 4.48 40 yard time.
Holmes visited the Irish in April and then camped in South Bend in June. He also participated in The Opening earlier in July. He chose Notre Dame over UCLA and also held over 30 offers from schools such as Stanford, Florida, Oklahoma and Michigan.

Impact:
Immediate Future:
With the departure of TJ Jones after the 2013 season, Holmes will be given an opportunity to compete for playing time as a freshman. He has ideal size and speed for the position at the college level, but his playing time and contribution will likely be determined by his ability to gain a weight before enrolling (probably needs to be around 200 lbs) and his ability to quickly digest the playbook.
Long Term/Career:
Holmes' highlight tape shows a lot of characteristics that Irish fans should be excited about. One of the most important attributes that shows up quickly is his ability to find the soft spots in zone coverages and exploit them. He displays great hands on film, catching several passes well away from his body. He gets to full speed quickly and has enough speed to run away from defenders in the open field. One other aspect that should be noted is his willingness to block downfield for his teammates-a trait that is coveted by the offensive coaching staff.
All said, Holmes should develop into yet another nice offensive weapon for Brian Kelly and his staff.
Welcome to Notre Dame Corey!
