Coach Brian Kelly received his 1st verbal commitment for the 2015 class on Saturday from OT Jerry Tillery (Shreveport, LA - Evangel Christian Academy). He is listed at 6'5.5"/315 lbs.
Tillery visited campus over the weekend with his parents and gave his verbal commitment to the staff before leaving (and after making a trip to the bookstore). He was named the OL MVP at the National Underclassman Combine (Louisiana Camp) this spring and is projected to be a Top 100 overall recruit and Top 5 OT Nationally.

Impact:
Immediate Future:
Tillery, like nearly all freshman offensive linemen, will most likely redshirt. Since he is only entering his junior season, he is a little more difficult to project at this point. Regardless, a year working with Harry Hiestand on technique and Paul Longo to add strength and redistribute weight will be time well spent.
Long Term/Career:
Tillery is a prototypical left tackle due to his size, frame and athleticism. On his hudl highlights, he is shown going against 2013 Top 100 DE Tim Williams (who signed with Alabama) and Tillery won every match-up that was shown. Generally, that would be considered impressive-but then you have to remember that he was a sophomore and Williams was a senior. Overall, the sky is the limit for this talented tackle prospect and the first highly ranked commitment for the Irish from Louisiana in some time.
Welcome to Notre Dame Jerry!
