Like most other offensive line commits, Nelson should take his freshman year to add/redistribute weight, spend plenty of time under the watchful eye of S&C Coach Paul Longo, and learn the offensive system. Under the development and tutelage of OL Coach Harry Hiestand, Nelson should be ready to compete for playing time in 2015.
Nelson is listed as an offensive tackle by all services, but is somewhat of a combo guard/tackle. Many of the experts project him to move inside at the next level, but he is certainly athletic and skilled enough to stay outside at tackle. He has drawn multiple comparisons to current LT Zach Martin due to his frame and technique. With a large offensive line class in '13 and another projected for '14, Nelson will have plenty of competition for playing time but will have every opportunity to earn playing time.
Welcome to Notre Dame Quenton!
