Spring Practice Report for 3.25.13

Notre Dame opens up its second week of spring ball today. We look back at the end of last week's work.

Since we last checked in with our first spring practice report the Irish have taken the field twice more and will do so again this morning. As per usual these days the information coming out of South Bend is pretty limited without much media access so we will try and fill the OFD faithful in as best we can.

Cliff Notes:

  • *Players are really focused. No drama around the program right now.
  • *Foundation and system is in place. This spring is about building this team and not the program.
  • *Day gets off the ball better than anyone on the team. His skill set allows him to overcome his lack of size.
  • *Would love to dictate the tempo on offense.
  • *Amir Carlisle, Alex Welch, and Austin Collinsworth were full contact for the 1st day in full pads.
  • *They want Nick Martin at 290 for the center position.
  • *Hegarty playing well and not shying away from contact.
  • *Impressed with Hounshell. Jarron Jones looks the part out there.
  • *Slot receiver is still evolving.
  • *Veterans that were back on campus (Te'o, Toma, Rudolph, etc.) all noticed Carlisle. He'll have a big impact on the program.
