It's that time of year when Vegas starts slowly twisting the knife. Ouch!
Jim Miesle, TuckEverlasting, and CW led the way last week with 16 wins. Miesle has now closed tjv's overall lead to just 5 games. Things are getting more tight!
Now on to this week's games...
USC (+4.5) at Oregon State
Pick: Oregon State
It will probably be cold and raining on Friday night in Corvalis, USC is bringing like 27 players to the game, and the Beavers have the passing game to put points on the board.
Virginia Tech (-5) at Boston College
Pick: Virginia Tech
I'm tempted to pick BC here because they've played pretty well at home and Tech's offense has been mostly terrible. But I think the Hokies defense suffocates the Eagles into a cover.
Wisconsin (-9.5) at Iowa
Eh, I think Wisconsin's due for a little bit of a let down. Iowa is an okay team, it's an early game, and some weird stuff could happen.
Illinois (+10.5) at Penn State
I think Penn State is going to bounce back and win after an embarrassing loss last week to OSU. I just don't believe they have enough to win by double-digits.
Army (PK) at Air Force
Pick: Air Force
I'll take the home team thank you very much.
Miss State (+12.5) at South Carolina
Pick: South Carolina
The Gamecocks need to win out to have a chance at the division title and I like them to be real focused at home to put away a bad opponent.
North Carolina (-5) at NC State
Pick: NC State
Boy, these teams have been disappointing this season with a combined 1 conference win so far. I've got a gut feeling NC State pulls off the upset here.
Clemson (-17) at Virginia
The Tigers haven't instilled much confidence in the public over their last 2 games yet this spread is still fairly large. I don't know if that says a lot about Virginia but I'm being Clemson to win big.
Northwestern (+6.5) at Nebraska
Nebraska's defense is really bad, you guys. This spread has been coming down all week and I'm riding that momentum. I bet this is a really close game.
Minnesota (+9) at Indiana
What do the Gophers have to do to get a little respect out there??
Michigan (+5.5) at Michigan State
This is a classic case of picking the team you don't want to win. Seriously though, this game might be 0-0 in the fourth quarter. I like the underdog in that type of game.
Kent State (+1) at Akron
These teams are eerily similar. Stick with the home team in basically a pick 'em.
Georgia (-3) at Florida
The Bulldogs might not have much left on offense but they do still have Murray and they could be getting Gurley back. The Gators might have the worst offense in the South.
West Virginia (+12.5) at TCU
Pick: West Virginia
TCU's offense is so skittish. Are the Frogs better than their record indicates? This line feels too high to me.
Navy (+16) at Notre Dame
Pick: Notre Dame
I'm a tad bit worried about Nix not playing.
San Jose State (-4) at UNLV
I think the Rebels are one of the underrated teams in the country for their talent level.
New Mexico State (+31.5) at Louisiana-Lafayette
Pick: New Mexico State
I don't know if ULL is good enough to romp even an awful team like NMSU.
Texas State (-10.5) at Idaho
Pick: Texas State
I've got nothing.
Auburn (-8) at Arkansas
I think the Tigers are getting their QB back for this one. That means Gus can have some fun again!
Tennessee (+10.5) at Missouri
The Vols are starting a true freshman and Missouri's pass rush is really outstanding.
Oklahoma State (+2) at Texas Tech
Pick: Texas Tech
I haven't figured out this Okie Junior team. This is the most bizarre team of the Gundy era.
Miami (+22) at Florida State
This will probably look really stupid by late Saturday night but I'm going to go ahead and say that Miami not only covers but makes this a legit game well into the second half.
Boise State (-7) at Colorado State
Pick: Boise State
Is it being talked about enough that Boise is only 5-3 this season?
Nevada (+20.5) at Fresno State
Back. Door. Cover.
