Coach Brian Kelly received his 2nd verbal commitment for the 2014 class yesterday (July 9th) from WR Justin Brent (Indianapolis, IN - Speedway). Brent is listed at 6'3" and 190 lbs.

Brent was offered by the staff after camping at Notre Dame in late June and is already considered one of the top 2014 wide receiver prospects. Notre Dame was the first school to offer, but he has been steadily gaining interest from several programs across the country.

Impact:

Immediate Future:

While it is difficult to project where a player will be in two years, Brent is already listed at 190-195 lbs by the various services-and he is just going into his junior year of high school. Considering he won't step foot on campus for another two years, he has ample time to continue to grow and add weight in order to contribute right away for the Irish.

Long Term/Career:

Base on his limited highlight film, it is tough to make a fair assessment of where he projects. Clearly the staff is high on this young man after watching him workout first hand and extending a scholarship offer.

He displayed good range as well as using his body to shield the defender when catching the ball. He runs effortlessly on film, but still needs to put some time and effort into his route running skills. Given his big frame, he should be able to learn to be an excellent blocker on the perimeter and grow into an excellent wide receiver for the Irish.

As an added bonus, Brent is also a decent basketball prospect. Here are 4pointshooter's initial thoughts on him as a basketball prospect:

He has ideal size for a combo guard off the bench, but that's not the kind of player brey's typically gone for in the past. There really isn't a whole lot of info yet, but I can see him playing roundball for a year or two before he really cracks the two-deep on the football field.

Welcome to Notre Dame Justin!
