Notre Dame Football Recruiting 2013: Junior Day Visitors

Coach Brian Kelly will hold the official Junior Day this Saturday. As of the last count, there are 22 potential members of the 2013 class scheduled to take in a spring practice schedule while on campus.

Notre Dame held a mini Junior Day earlier this month, hosting four prospects in LB Jaylon Smith, RB Ty Isaac, WR Keeon Johnson and DE/TE Jacob Matuska. Matuska verbally committed to the Irish a few days after his visit.

For updates on all the offers out to current high school Juniors, check out Eric's 2013 Recruiting Big Board.

Also, don't forget to check out the OFD Recruiting Central Widget for everything you need to know about the upcoming class.

On to the list of visitors after the jump.

Wednesday Visitor (3/21)

Spring practice already hosted its first visitor with 2014 OT Andy Bauer (St. Louis, MO - DeSmet). Bauer is already listed at 6'5" and left campus with an offer. The Irish appear to be in good shape early.

Saturday Visitors (3/24) - Junior Day

QB

Tim Boyle (Middletown, CT - Xavier)

Malik Zaire (Kettering, OH - Alter)

Notes:

I wouldn't consider Notre Dame at the top for either QB. I think they take a QB this class, but likely end up with another from their offer list as Zaire is thought to be an Ohio State lean and Boyle is more of a pro-style QB looking at Syracuse and Boston College.

RB

Ezekiel Elliott (St. Louis, MO - John Burroughs School)

Ryan Green (St. Petersburg, FL - St. Petersburg Catholic)

Notes:

With the Irish only looking to take one RB in 2013, this becomes an interesting category to discuss. Elliott is looking at ND and Missouri. Green has offers from several elite programs (Florida, FSU, Miami, USC). I don't see either pulling the trigger this weekend, but ND needs to make a good impression with Green.

WR

Charlie Callinan (Jersey City, NJ - St. Peters Prep)

James Onwualu (St. Paul, MN - Cretin-Derham Hall) Verbal Commit

Corey Robinson (San Antonio, TX - Christian Academy)

Notes:

Callinan doesn't have an offer yet from the Irish. Robinson has a father you may have heard of (former NBA All-Star David Robinson) and ND was early to the table with an offer. He could continue to grow and be a better fit at TE long-term. Onwualu verbally committed last week and will be working hard to recruit other players to Notre Dame over the weekend.

OL

Hunter Bivin (Owensboro, KY - Apollo)

Steven Elmer (Midland, MI - Midland) Verbal Commit

Darius Latham (Indianapolis, IN - North Central)

Mike McGlinchey (Philadelphia, PA - William Penn Charter)

Colin McGovern (New Lenox, IL - Lincoln Way West)

Notes:

Of the group, Bivin is probably the most likely to commit over the weekend of all the prospects. Four of the five linemen are OTs, with Latham being the only one likely to move to the interior (and he may end up playing DL in college anyway). Elmer will be working the group with his fellow verbal commit James Onwualu to sway a few of the players over the weekend. Both McGlinchey and McGovern have lots of offers from across the country.

TE

Reilly Gibbons (St. Petersburg, FL - St. Petersburg Catholic) 2014 Prospect

Notes:

Gibbons projects to be one of the top TEs in the 2014 class and is very interested in Notre Dame. The Irish look good early here.

DL

Dajaun Drennon (Sicklerville, NJ - Timber Creek)

Notes:

Drennon has an elite offer list even if the current star ranking doesn't match. He is listed at 6'4"/225, so he might be a better fit as a OLB in the 3-4 defense.

LB

Alex Anzalone (Wyomissing, PA - Wyomissing Area)

Eric Beisel (Fenton, MO - Rockwood Summit)

Ben Boulware (Anderson, SC - Hanna)

Tim Kimbrough (Indianapolis, IN - Warren Central)

Jordan Mastrogiovanni (Dallas, TX - Jesuit)

Doug Randolph (Richmond, VA - Woodberry Forest)

Notes:

As you can see, there is no shortage of LBs visiting for Junior Day. Anzalone has an elite offer list and may be tough to pull out of the Keystone State. Beisel has the frame to play outside in Diaco's defense and appears to just be starting the recruiting process. Boulware is getting tons of attention recently from top programs. Kimbrough has a long offer list, and is a former teammate of Sheldon Day. Mastrogiovanni appears to be a Texas A&M lean right now. Randolph is a current verbal to Stanford and teammate of 2012 incoming Freshman CJ Prosise. I don't think that Notre Dame will get a verbal commitment from anyone on the list over the weekend, but I think making a good impression will go a long way in earning a few down the road.

DB

Tre Bell (Jersey City, NJ - St. Peters Prep)

Notes:

Bell recently earned an offer and doesn't appear to have any early favorites.

ATH

TJ Taylor (Monmouth Junction, NJ - South Brunswick)

Notes:

Taylor has the frame of a WR but is listed on Rivals as an ATH. Only has one offer listed to-date (Temple).

Sunday Visitor (3/25)

OT Dorian Johnson (Belle Vernon, PA - Belle Vernon Area)

Notes:

Listed at 6'6", he is probably a lineman that could move inside if necessary. He is the cousin of Notre Dame assistant coach Scott Booker.
