The Weekly Scoreboard: No Spread Too Big for Oregon

Another 4-4 week for the Big E.

Another fun week as the Irish remain undefeated and I lose out by not picking them to cover.

USC lost this week, which is always good, except maybe it's not this year. Oregon covered the largest spread in Pac-12 history, a MAC team beat an undefeated foe, and much more.

For week 9, afkas17, Dmac4real, and ndbios2000 led the way with 6-2 records.

In the overall leaderboard Savannah_Domer is back on top.

Recap:

1) Colorado 14 at Oregon 70

Winner: Oregon (-45.5)

75% picked correctly

Oregon had nearly 500 yards at the half and they were up 56-0 at the break.

They pulled their starters and tied Colorado 14-14 in the second half, not making this game look like quite the blood bath it actually was. Although 70-14 is still pretty bad.

Check out the Black Mamba punt return from this game if you haven't already.

2) Kent State 35 at Rutgers 23

Winner: Kent State (+13.5)

9% picked correctly

Rutgers turned the ball over 7(!!!) times and let Kent State gain over 200 yards on the ground.

The Scarlet Knights time in the AP Poll was fun while it lasted. See ya later.

3) Texas Tech 24 at Kansas State 55

Winner: Kansas State (-7.5)

56% picked correctly

This game was close but K-State pulled away in the second half.

Tech has now been blown out in 2 out of their last 4 games but remain ranked in the AP Poll largely based off of wins over severely overrated West Virginia and TCU teams.

4) Florida 9 at Georgia 17

Winner: Georgia (+6.5)

38% picked correctly

We had a lot of people watching this during our Saturday Pre-Game Chill Thread and boy was it ugly. Neither team could top 300 yards offense. They combined for 9 turnovers including 6 from the Gators.

Don't worry Florida didn't drop very far, they're still ahead of Florida State, Louisville, and Clemson.

5) Ohio State 35 at Penn State 23

Winner: Ohio State (PK)

69% picked correctly

I really felt like this was the easiest pick of the season. Penn State just had to lose this game---they just had to.

The Nittany Lions couldn't run the ball and 327 passing yards from Matt "All-American" McGloin couldn't save Penn State from suffering their 1st B1G loss and 3rd defeat overall.

6) Michigan 9 at Nebraska 23

Winner: Nebraska (-2.5)

16% picked correctly

The Nard was injured in the middle of the 2nd quarter in this game and didn't return. Here's what happened to the Michigan offense the rest of the game:

29 plays

47 yards

3 points

The field goal came only after Nebraska was flagged for 2 personal fouls and a pass interference on the 5th Michigan drive without Robinson. The Wolverines backup quarterback Russell Bellomy produced:

3 for 16 passing, 38 yards, 0 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, 5 rushes, 0 yards.

I'm really looking forward to Michigan's offense next year.

7) Notre Dame 30 at Oklahoma 13

Winner: Notre Dame (+10.5)

81% picked correctly

8) Mississippi State 7 at Alabama 38

Winner: Alabama (-23.5)

53% picked correctly

The previously undefeated Bulldogs were ground to a pulp against the Tide.

Alabama was one garbage time touchdown away from pitching their 3rd shutout of the season.

Opponent Watch

  • Navy 56 at East Carolina 28

The Middies blast the Pirates and move to 5-3 on the season. That's 4 straight wins for Navy.

  • Purdue 28 at Minnesota 44

Purdue was embarrassed this weekend and this score says it all. It was actually 44-7 mid-way through the 3rd quarter. That's 4 straight losses for the Boilers and they're 0-4 in league play.

  • Michigan State 16 at Wisconsin 13

Michigan State got back on track with this overtime win. The Spartans held Wisconsin to just 190 total yards.

Miami had a bye and will face Virginia Tech this Thursday.

  • Washington State 17 at Stanford 24

The score was close, but Stanford controlled this game and collected 10 sacks. They're now 6-2 overall and 4-1 in Pac-12 league play.

  • BYU 41 at Georgia Tech 17

Pretty impressive win for the Cougars as they bounce back from a loss to Notre Dame by thrashing Georgia Tech. BYU held them to just 157 yards!

  • Temple 17 at Pittsburgh 47

Notre Dame's upcoming opponent took care of business against Temple. Pitt is now 4-4 and this was their first Big East win of the season.

  • Maryland 17 at Boston College 20

Boston College surprised me and picked up another win this season. That moves them to 2-6 on the season and 1-4 in ACC play.

Maryland was playing their 4th string quarterback in this game. He's now hurt and the Terps will be starting a freshman linebacker at QB this week.

  • Clemson 42 at Wake Forest 13

Wake was crushed this past Thursday night by Clemson. They allowed 534 yards and fall to 4-4 overall and 2-4 in ACC play.

  • USC 36 at Arizona 39

This game didn't even make my weekly picks yet USC still lost.

Arizona piled up 618 yards of offense, while USC falls to 6-2 and 4-2 in Pac-12 play.

Early Lines for This Week's Big E Picks:

Oklahoma (-10.5) at Iowa State

Texas A&M (-6.5) at Mississippi State

Texas (+6.5) at Texas Tech

Pittsbugh (+16.5) at Notre Dame

Clemson (-14.5) at Duke

Oregon (-7.5) at USC

Oklahoma State (+8.5) at Kansas State

Alabama (-9.5) at LSU
