Athlete David Perkins Becomes 10th Irish Verbal

As expected, local South Bend product David Perkins chose Notre Dame today at a press conference.

He becomes the 10th member of the 2012 Irish class.

At 6'2" 210 pounds, Perkins is described as one of the most versatile athletes in the nation with an ability to play all over the field.

As a junior in 2010 he racked up 765 rushing yards (with a scorching 9.3 average) to go along with 176 yards receiving.

His defensive stats are probably more impressive as he totaled 63 tackles, 16 TFL, and 13 sacks.

Perkins is rated as a 4-star recruit and the #27 OLB according to Scout.

He mentioned today in his press conference that he will play either outside linebacker or running back at Notre Dame.

What I like about this kid is that he looks very mature. You can look into his eyes and see this is an athlete that will be ready to play the moment he steps on campus.

You see a lot of kids like this at SEC schools and it's nice for Notre Dame to grab one right out of their back yard.

Due to his physical maturity, I get the feeling Perkins is going to be pushing 230 by the time he comes to Notre Dame. And although he might be a great running back and we need help there, I think Perkins stays at outside linebacker.

Welcome aboard David!
