Irish fans – here’s the ACC tourney implications going into the regular season finale on Saturday. Surprisingly hard to find this on the interwebs. ND secures a double bye in the ACC tourney UNLESS ND loses, Duke wins and FSU wins.
If Notre Dame wins AND Duke wins, ND is #2 seed and co-regular season ACC champs
If Notre Dame wins AND UNC wins, ND is #2 seed
If Notre Dame loses AND UNC wins and Miami wins, ND is #2/3 seed (2-way tie with ND & Louisville; split head-to-head; both lost to UNC; determined by win % against teams tied for 4th – pending results of multiple games)
If Notre Dame loses AND UNC wins and FSU wins, ND is #3 seed (3-way tie with ND, FSU, Louisville decided by win % against teams in tiebreaker; FSU .666, ND .500, Louisville .333)
If Notre Dame loses AND Duke wins and Miami wins, ND is #4 seed (3-way tie with ND, Louisville, Duke decided by win % against teams in tiebreaker; Louisville .666, Duke .500, ND .333)
If Notre Dame loses AND Duke wins and FSU wins, ND is #5 seed (4-way tie with ND, FSU, Louisville, Duke decided by win % against teams in tiebreaker; FSU .600, Duke .500, Louisville .500, Notre Dame .400)
Disclaimer: ACC website does not have updated 2017 tiebreaker rules posted so this is based on the 2016 tiebreaker rules. Assuming they haven’t changed.
