Figured this might be a fun place to compile where some old friends are:
Miami of Ohio crew
27-42 loss to Marshall
Andrew Hendrix (QB): 24/49, 318 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT...20 carries for 46 yards
Alex Welch (TE): 4 rec, 28 yards, 1 TD
Lo Wood (CB): 1 tackle, 2 assisted tackles
Trivia: Hendrix's TD to Welch was his second career touchdown pass and first at Miami.
Others still in college:
Gunner Kiel (QB - Univ. of Cincinatti) - has won the starting job, but the Bearcats first game of the season isn't until Friday September 12th.
Devante Neal (WR - Univ. of Arizona) 2 rec, 29 yards, 1 TD
Justin Ferguson (WR - Western Michigan) - played special teams, no offensive action
Chris Badger (S - BYU) wasn't listed in the two-deep and I couldn't find stats on him, though he may have seen the field
Will Mahone (OLB now - Youngstown State University) - Mahone's legal problems are behind him and he's enrolled and walked on to the YSU Football team. He will be ineligible to play until next season (2015).
NFL
(This isn't a comprehensive list, and guys like Eifert or Te'o are intentionally omitted, since there isn't anything new or exciting with those established players. I wanted to concentrate on fringe players of NFL rosters or guys who have made news recently)
Jimmy Clausen (QB, Bears) won the #2 job in Chicago and could be a key figure if Cutler gets hurt.
Brady Quinn (QB, Dolphins) only lasted 2 weeks in Miami before being dropped last week with the first round of cuts.
Theo Riddick: (RB - Lions) made the team over former 2nd round pick Mikel Leshoure. Lions seem very high on Riddick
Cierre Wood: (RB - Ravens) waived by the Ravens on 8/25
George Atkinson III (RB- Raiders) cut from roster but signed to the practice squad
Chris Watt (G/C - Chargers) has really impressed in his first pre-season, seeing time at center and guard and played well enough that it seems like he will be starting somewhere on the line.
TJ Jones (WR, Lions) On the PUP list with a nerve problem in his arm, will be out the first six weeks of the season but team and player are hoping he returns to health at that point.
Stephon Tuitt (DE - Steelers: Has impressed big time in PIttsburgh, a place where traditionally not many rookies play on defense. Should get a lot of playing time, including the 2 down-linemen nickel package
Kapron Lewis-Moore (DL - Ravens) suffered another serious injury, back on the DL :(
Louis Nix III (DT - Texans) - had a knee surgery prior to camp, played in the final two preseason games with his coach giving an uninspiring quote like: "It’s been OK," he said. "He’s got to get a lot better. He’s a third-round draft pick, and he needs to make sure he’s working extremely hard every day to play pro football.
Prince Shembo: (ILB, Falcons) got a lot of screen time on Hard Knocks and has seemed to transition very well to MLB and may even see starting time in his rookie year.
Darius Fleming (LB, Patriots) old Belichick may have gotten a steal. After being drafted in 2012, Fleming tore the same ACL in practice in 2012 and 2013, being cut by the 49ers this spring. New England swooped in, Fleming performed well in pre-season and he made the 53-man roster.
Dan Fox: (OLB - NY Giants) cut from the roster but signed to the practice squad
Bennett Jackson: (CB - NY Giants) cut from the roster but signed to the practice squad
Zeke Motta (S, Falcons) has been on the PUP list all summer and will be out for at least the first six weeks of the NFL regular season
