A Seminole fan comes in peace

I was at last nights game and it may be the most emotionally draining game I have ever seen in person. The ebbs and flows of jubilation and angst left me completely spent (as a fan can get) and shaking for almost 10 minutes after the game was over. I am not here to argue the outcome or pass interference call at the end of the game. My purpose is that I want to say that I hope those Irish fans that made the trip to Tallahassee had a positive experience. While other college towns/campuses in the state of Florida are not welcoming to opposing fans (cough cough gainesville and Miami), FSU fans try to be welcoming to visiting fans and attempt to treat others as we would like to be treated when we visit. Of course, I saw some of our younger, less seasoned fans acting like jackasses towards ND fans, but know that this is not an accurate representation of how we like to act. If you encountered such behavior, I apologize for the entire Seminole Nation.

I attended what was an epic ESPN College Game Day with 3 kids, and from what I saw all fans got along very well. I had numerous interactions with Irish fans and all were good ones. I often asked where they made the trip from, as I grew up in northern Indiana (Elkhart to be exact) and am very familiar with the campus, football program, community, and how important Notre Dame football is to it's fans. Watching the game, I learned that ND does indeed have a tremendous team this season and one worthy, in my opinion, of consideration for a "Final Four" spot at the end. Gholson (sp???) surprised me last night with great decision making and his ability to avoid pressure when we were able to get it. Your Kelly (Brian) out coached our Kelly (Charles, defensive coordinator) most of the time and had our defense guessing with good play calling. I believe all Seminole fans learned a new level of respect for your team. They left it all on the field and played a tremendous game.

For those of you that either made it to the game or know someone who did, I would be interested in hearing your stories of your experience with Tallahassee, the Florida State campus, fans, and the game. Again, I hope all who did attend had a positive experience and got home safely. Good luck the rest of the way.
